The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions informed the Chief Secretary of Kerala and recommended that the status of ‘IAS’ should not be conferred to the sub-collector of Thalassery, Asif K Yusuf as he reportedly produced a fake caste certificate for his UPSC exam.
This was found out in a detailed inquiry which was carried out by the Ernakulam District Collector S Suhas. The latter had submitted his report in November last year and as per this, Asif had forged his caste certificate for the UPSC exam, to claim benefits of the reservation category.
Centre calls for immediate action against IAS officer!
As per official guidelines, children of parents with gross annual income above or equal to ₹6 lacs for three years are illegible to claim for the reservation benefits guaranteed for the non-creamy layer of OBCs. Income tax records has revealed that the parents of Asif had a gross income which violated the general rule and was drawing an annual income of more than ₹6 lacs .
The Centre has recommended the cancellation of the caste and income certificates of Asif, besides calling for strict disciplinary action against him and the Kanayannur Tahsildhar for providing the fake caste certificate.
